Inverted V with Loading Coils This page describes the performance of an inverted V antenna with two loading coils It is  fabricated using any reasonably small gage insulated wire so that it can be mounted on top of a sturdy fibreglass mast up to 7 metres high. The gain at 30 degrees elevation is 4 dBi (about one  dB less that a full sized horizontal dipole).  The lower gain is due to fact that it is lower in height than the dipole. The merits of this antenna are its high gain and ease of matching. The small disadvantage of the antenna is that is not easy to rotate.   Gain @ 14 MHz = 3.8 dbi at a take off angle of 30 degrees. Frequency Response VSWR = 1.3 @ 14 MHz SWR varies with height. Note the excellent match due to small(nearly 50 Ohm) radiation resistance
